Michal Semple: Might makes right- means the most powerful makes the rules.Political power- There is also an element of back door deals and arm twisting from the cleverest. Political power is divided so that rule of the strongest really doesn't happen in the US.Yes government is more than power for those who run it, because in America the gov't is made up of the people. That makes it a force to create society not just a source of power.Gov't is made legitimate by the peoples decree, by force, or by peace and prosperity.Governments will always be around to create structure of rules and security for all people to live under. If you remember 'Lord of the Flies' - the stronger members of the group eventually gain power, and the stable society inhabited by Ralph ? and Piggy begins to break down, anarchy reigns supreme.Since the majority of people are totally uninterested in politics (unless something drastic forces them to be) it seems to me that it is the most powerful and the most persuasive on TV who will be elected...based on personalities rather than policies.Government is the elected members ! and the civil servants....I think we could do away with the el! ected members and let the civil servants do their job...I don't think many people would notice any difference in their day to day existence.A government is legitimate if lawfully elected (however ignorant the electorate) by a majority Yes, indeed. The reason it's powerful is because it represents the psychological trauma of childhood. "- Nothing. It breaks from it's own principles immediately after it states them. It's posed as a solution to theft, murder, rape and kidnapping (among other things) and yet inflicts ALL of those as a solution for them. It's a logical contradiction and wholly evil. Police kidnap, steal from and murder people everyday and puts those people it kidnaps in a place where they will likely be raped weekly. Just because a man wears a uniform does not make him exempt from simple logic.
