Eva Lichlyter: First things first, I know this sounds very basic, but do check you've been sent a digital to analog converter and not the other way round. These things are directional. The Optical socket should be an Input, and the stereo phono/RCA should be the Output. The Optical to Analog converter can't handle anything other than PCM audio from the games console. So anything that's not PCM won't get through. Have a look at the PS4 set-up menus on the console. Set the primary output to Optical, and then set the audio priority to Linear PCM. Even when you have done the above there's still the question of what sample frequencies the DAC in the Optical to analogue converter (and the optical connection itself!) can handle. The Optical connection itself is limited to 96kHz. So any PS4 settings higher than 96kHz will be wasted. Finally, check the settings on the Bose. They're normally quite basic, so I would expect the analog inputs to map directly to an input button rather ! than being assignable but it's worth checking the user manual just to be sure. You can download a manual from the Bose web site. Alternatively, find another source device with analog outputs and try that in the sockets on the Bose. If you get sound then you can eliminate that from a list of possible problems....Show more
Geraldo Mccalla: Also, I am using a old Bose surround sound system so it also doesn't have an optical input; and that is what I am connecting the RCA cables to.
