Advice about renting a room in my home?

Janeen Perona: They may be worried about the kids. They may wonder how noisy they are and how firmly you have them disciplined.

Sol Bayn: Sometimes it is just a matter of finding the right combination. You have to put yourself in the shoes of the renter and if that fails you simply need to contact your prospects and ask them what they didn't like in a manner that honesty won't be perceived as insulting. Then adjust with the commentary. Good Luck!

Rona Espalin: Take a look at what other rooms are renting for in your area to see if it is reasonable, and if they are furnished or unfurnished for their price. When you are advertising, are you indicating that your home has two preschoolers? That can be a put off for some. Are there toys all over? Are the kids noisy? Is your home neat and clean? When you do get someone who is interested, be sure to check them out very carefully. You don't want any weirdos around your young children.Good luck!...Show more

An Trebil: You might want to offer it as furnished, you may get more renters interested that way. You may have to lower rent even more, if you can't find someone. The renters possibly think 500 is too expensive. 300 sounds reasonable for rooms.

Ginny Trickett: I put that I have preschoolers in the ad. We keep a clean house even though we have kids.
