Can i cook a chuck roast at 250 degrees?

Jene Licausi: I put roasts and turkeys in at that temp for overnight to noon the next day. They are perfect. But mine are 8 to 10 pound roasts too! I do not like those little bitty things that feed only 4 people.

Cornelius Thornborrow: Not unless you want it to cook for 8+ hours and taste like shoe leather.

Tommy Durrenberger: Yes you can. In fact, it's better to cook a chuck roast at a lower temperature. Cook it at too high a heat and it'll get tough. It'll probably take at least an hour longer to cook unless it's a small chuck roast, but it'll be worth it.P.S.: Don't go by time. Do it the most accurate way -- use a meat thermometer to tell you when it's done to your liking....Show more

Jonathan Schlussel: Probably but it would take 8+ hours

Lon Pennington: cover it with kum and that'll help it cook

Tosha Tawney: Yes, but it will take a long time. Be sure to do it in a covered roaster or in a pan covered with heavy duty aluminum foil, a! nd add a bit of water or wine so that it does not dry out. This will take a minimum of six hours.Even so, the temperature might not be high enough to make the meat tender. I would suggest 300 or 325 degrees, instead....Show more

Mack Ukich: Yes, but it will take a long time, like maybe 8 hours. Assuming you mean 250 F, not 250 Celsius

Cassey Hollinghurst: eventually.

Gregg Hagge: At 250 probably 5 to 6 hours? I cook mine at 350 for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. If you like it tender like that why not get a crock pot? Just put it in with veggies and seasoning salt and 1/2 cup of water and let it cook all day.

Majorie Chester: yes it will take longer i cook mine at 350 for about 1and half hour
