I have to make a board game that is based on the book Great Expectations. Any one got any ideas to help me?

Jon Bergmeier: Hmm... trying to make a board game based on a novel is kind of a tall order. I guess the first question you'd want to ask yourself is whether you want to have a game that's more fun or stick to the book and plot more. Presuming you're doing homework here I imagine the goal would be to be more faithful to the book as opposed to a strategically- satisfying game, and that you'd want to design a game that wouldn't take too long.Since GE follows a man's life story the most likely boardgame to use as a template would probably be the Game of Life, where everyone is their own Pip and they weave around the board using a spinner or dice, with the goal to finish with the most "victory points" (a generic score which could be increased through wealth, helping out the convict and getting him out of England, or winning Estella's hand somehow via landing on certain spots on the board). You could start out picking a pathway a la Life, with the longer path leading to a be! tter steady payment/ salary from the convict. I know that's not much of a game, but you'd probably get points for including events from GE on a bunch of the squares....Show more
