Cassidy Pangrazio: Some love, others don't, find a local game & comic shop which has an in store "play area then see if you can try it. Most store have Magic every Friday Night, FNM.
Carolynn Testani: the few I play it, its fun enough. However it is a bit more difficult than pokemon tcg (I must admit than I had only played the both against my pc, and with very old rules, MTG in the edition done by microprose and pokemon in the tcg game for game boy color)
Rubi Romo: yeah I would play standard and not go by the rules unless you have to, just pick up your deck and play like its your hand
Gladys Worthing: It is definitely more difficult to learn than most card games. It is about as complicated as Yugioh, only MTG cards rarely have so much text on them. But I love it. It is an exceptionally entertaining game, and you can get into it pretty cheaply. Buy a deck for about 15 bucks and you get a fully workable deck with a 15 cards booster pack. Or you can buy a ! Fat Pack, which is more expensive but gives you a couple hundred random cards that you can use to build a deck with. The rules are the biggest barrier to playing MTG, simply because you need to learn some vocab words. Abilities are often unexplained and a card will simply say "Haste" or "Lifelink" without explaining what those powers mean. I would print out a list of effects (scour the Internet for them) to always have on hand, because there are a SH*TLOAD of them and it is easy to forget what one means. But if you can do that, you'll be just fine. The card designs are nothing short of gorgeous, and the sheer variety is insane. Finding a color type and strategy you like takes a bit of experimentation, but you'll get used to it.I use two different decks. A Hellkite deck that focuses on getting out massive dragons that attack directly, which is fun because some of them cause devastation just by showing up on the field. The other is a Golgari deck that focuses on turning my gra! veyard into troops (or fuel for bigger troops). That one is fu! n because killing my creatures just means I have stronger ones ready to go....Show more
