Global Warming?

Providencia Serpe: Some crackpot in the early 1800s alluded to it. People were sane then and nobody listened to him then. Turns out they were right and the crackpot was wrong.

Olin Hallin: Yes I am believe.Humans are prime caused global warming.Save polar bear from global warming.http://theclickinfo.com/savepolarbear.go...Show more

Donte Schoenhals: Because as the temperature rises, the ice melts, which rises the sea levels, which means lots of land will be flooded and people's homes will be destroyed.

Matt Gerdeman: why are people concerned about global warming?

Voncile Slaubaugh: “As human-caused biodiversity loss and climate disruption gain ground, we need to keep our sights clear and understand that the measure of a threat is not a matter of whether it is made on purpose, but of how much loss it may cause. It's an ancient habit to go after those we perceive to be evil because they intended to do harm. It's harder, but more effective, to "go ! after," meaning to more effectively educate and socialize, those vastly larger numbers of our fellow humans who are not evil, but whose behavior may in fact be far more destructive in the long run." (Ed Ayres, editor of Worldwatch magazine, Nov/Dec 2001)...Show more

Nicolas Cooley: The existence of the greenhouse effect was argued for by Joseph Fourier in 1824. The argument and the evidence was further strengthened by Claude Pouillet in 1827 and 1838, and reasoned from experimental observations by John Tyndall in 1859, and more fully quantified by Svante Arrhenius in 1896

Antwan Schrum: it's true we are PART of the reasonwe need to all watch the movie ARTIC TALEit's about Global WarmingAt the endWhen the movie is over, there are kids who talk aboutways to help stop Global WarmingIf we keep this up,We'll all have to moveto the westthe coast of the USwill be all under waterevery century thewater levelrises12 to 14inchesBAD!...Show more

Darrel Stele: The conce! rn arose in the early 1990's. An unproven science was used to ! craft the Kyoto Protocol in order to force the United States into an economic recession. At that time, all major industrialized nations were in a recession except for the US. The US was was in an economic climb. Only the US had to lose in signing that treaty. In 1990, Germany was reunified, and the USSR collapsed. These two events also meant a very large number of inefficient factories in East Germany and the USSR were closed down. That is why goals always reference 1990. There is zero chance of any global treaty being signed that used any baseline after 1990. Since then, the idea of global warming has evolved into a fear mongering tactic to push citizens into given governments greater ability to tax and control lifestyles. If the concern was geniune, the the world would focus its attention on China which is building TWO coal fired power plants every week.

Gene Debell: i believe! because animals and plants cant do it.

Germaine Tieken: the reason for it is beacus! e of all the gases which cause our sheild ( it protects out planet from the sun) to thin out more and more.that would lead to more sun getting in and in that case would melt the ice then there would be a giant water thing ya

Hermina Ketring: The greenhouse effect was first theorised by Joseph Fourier in 1824.In the 1950's John Tyndall experiments showed that infrared radiation was emitted by certain gasses, thus providing empirical evidence for the greenhouse effectIn 1896 Svente Arrhenius published a paper called "On the Influence of Carbonic Acid in the Air upon the Temperature of the Ground" in which he described how the radiation emitted from CO2 molecules could influence temperature on earth. In 1938 Callendar published a paper called "The artificial production of carbon dioxide and its influence on temperature" in which he estimated how much recent warming may have been driven by increases in CO2 from fossil fuel emissions. This paper was heavily criticised and i! n retrospect, his data was unreliable since temperature records in thos! e days were biased....Show more

Beau Starcevic: President Bush does now! He said so last night in the State of the Union speech. Now just the ignorant few on here are the last of the cult of denial! There will be tornadoes with blizzard conditions today in the Mid West US. When was the last time there were tornadoes in a blizzard? NEVER! What will it take to convince the skeptics? 100 tornadoes in Winter? How crazy does the weather have to get, before it can't be 'denied'?

Donald Caravalho: As President I would: Take water out of the depositing of sewage process. Begin self-generating non polluting forms of natural energy usage. Such as beginning construction (manpower needed in the millions) of the jet stream wind power collection devices that would power enlarged bank teller type tubes in tunnels throughout the country, and eventually the world. (Jet streams have over 150 mph winds available at elevations beginning at 3,000 feet). Restore forests, remove roa! dways, increase the water surface of our states by digging more streambeds. etc, etc. I would give civilization a chance at continuing earth's life into the future. And I would remove power from earth destroying corporations even if it meant civil war....Show more

Joesph Smithmyer: Proof that Global Warming is real...http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll250/indianahr...

Nikki Sypult: tmWe definitely didn't start global warming, but we definitely do contribute to it now.Natural gas (or Methane along with other thanes) for example, is completely a natural contributer to global warming and is derived pretty much the same way as oil. ie. Matter (animal, plant etc) decomposes over time resulting in a anaerobic (hope I spelled that right) decay of non-fossil organic material / gas (natural gas or methane). One problem with global warming is that the concept is so vague in the minds of the people. The critical interpretation is basically how it’s explained in school ! and the news. However most of the public see global warming connected w! ith the ozone and pollutants which cause harmful greenhouse gasses, etc. therefore investigating and fighting for things like alternative energy (ie. Solar, wind, hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, etc)Greenhouse gases are real and do contribute to global warming. Think of the different gas layers like ozone (o3) that circumference the globe as the clear plastic on a greenhouse. Longer rays of light from the Sun go in and reflect off different thermal masses bouncing back and creating shorter lengths of energy that cannot exist the plastic barrier. These beams then just continue to bounce around inside the green house until they’re finally absorbed completely (some do escape but very few), thereby warming the greenhouse greatly even in cold temperatures.Basically there are 2 ways that this reaction (or lack of) affects the planet. Global warming and global cooling.1. as we add to the gases in the stratosphere, where the ozone layer is (Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc), we! add to the plastic of the greenhouse, trapping more short wave length energy and heating the earth more.2. as we deplete the ozone (with chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs), we allow more long wave length energy, which bounces back out to space without heating any thermal masses on earth, thereby cooling the planet. It’s pretty easy to see the results..Melting ice sheets & glaciersFloods & droughtsGreat hurricanes & cyclonesSeasonal extremesSeasonal phenomena’sSpecies extinctionNew & resurgent diseasesThere are many ways to stop both global warming and cooling from accruing or at least slow them down until we can discover a way to reverse it, but Stop burning fossil fuels is the biggest.I currently own 2 converted h2 vehicles which run on 100% hydrogen and 1 EV (electric vehicle), not to mention our home is completely off the grid, using alternative energy (solar, wind, etc)If you interested I offer several DIY alternative guides to walk you step by step threw Greener living, ! how to run your car on alternative fuels and being self-sufficient, at ! agua-luna com or http://www.agua-luna.com/guides.htmlHope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions, I’m willing to walk you step by step threw the conversion process if you’re interested. Susan Rambo: Don't know, seeing many of these same people don't care about their eternity, and don't realize this current earth will be completely burned up, and God will create a new one ( 2 Peter 3:10-12 & Revelation 21:1 ).

Dionna Doyel: I believe that humans are responsible for global warming cars, fridges, freezers , aircraft, need I say more. It uses 1 barrel of oil per year for each standby light left on permanently

Johnny Sirko: I've come to the conclusion that it really doesn't matter ! how much you or I or scientists or PhDs or any combination of the above warn and inform people why they should be concerned about global warming, climate change, the end of the world, etc... Some people just aren't going to understand until the so-called "flood" comes, and even then, they'll say, "well, there wasn't anything we could've have done about it anyway." - if they are still alive to say anything about it...For those that are concerned, there are several main reasons that include but are not limited to: 1) They are concerned because they have seen devastating effects of global warming and climate change first hand, whether they are scientists, farmers, concerned citizens and / or people who live in devastated and rapidly changing areas.2) They are concerned because they can see that if these trends continue, they shall have to move from their homes, because of lack of water or inundation from water, constant forest fires and / or heat waves, etc...3) People in g! eneral want the world and the earth to become a better place, and globa! l warming and climate change seriously threaten that prospect...

Madge Voice: First hypothesized by Joseph Fourier, and later supported by some other scientist's, however not much notice was taken until prime minister Margaret Thatcher used it to discredited coal miners/unions and build more nuclear power stations, to provide plutonium for nuclear weapons.

Hal Palowoda: Im pretty sure it was American scientist, "Wallace Smith Broeker" on August 8th, 1975, and it was spread widely by Al Gore. Hope that helps!

Pam Rampadarat: The Druids back during the Roman Optimum.

Marcia Cheathan: "To know the future, one must look to the past" Albert Einstein. It was much warmer in the past centuries than it is today. Maybe the people were bigger methane producers in the past than they are today.

Toby Caswell: even scientists in ancient rome noted that the weather was getting warmer each year!

Frances Macky: Only Al Gore and His Sheep!!! Al Gore Is an! Idoit

Jesse Japak:

Brian Marquina: nay

Armando Somes: Temperature rises, ice melts, oceans water rise, causing flooding which means a lot of people homes will get destroyed

Jade Ohno: Here are a few universal effects of climate change:•Arctic sea ice is declining. In the last 50 years Arctic sea ice extent has been declining at a average rate of about 38,000 square kilometers per year.At the moment arctic sea ice it’s melting about 1½ times as fast as normal, in the last 10 years it’s been melting at a rate of 170,000km² a year. http://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/images/n_plot_h...Arctic sea ice volume is declining at a rate of about 340 cubic kilometers per year. http://psc.apl.washington.edu/ArcticSeaiceVolume/i...•Glaciers are retreatinghttp://www.wgms.ch/mbb/mbb9/sum06.html•Sea level is rising (Sea level rise is caused by the thermal expansion of sea water due to climate warming and widespread melting of land ice) http://www.aviso.o! ceanobs.com/en/news/ocean-indica...Many of the effects (of AGW) vary fr! om region to region. •North America: Decreasing snowpack in the western mountains; increased frequency, intensity and duration of heat waves in cities that currently experience them.•Latin America: Gradual replacement of tropical forest by savannah in eastern Amazonia; risk of significant biodiversity loss through species extinction in many tropical areas; significant changes in water availability for human consumption, agriculture and energy generation.•Europe: Increased risk of inland flash floods; more frequent coastal flooding and increased erosion from storms and sea level rise; glacial retreat in mountainous areas; reduced snow cover and winter tourism; extensive species losses; reductions of crop productivity in southern Europe.•Africa: By 2020, between 75 and 250 million people are projected to be exposed to increased water stress; yields from rain-fed agriculture could be reduced by up to 50 percent in some regions by 2020; agricultural production, includin! g access to food, may be severely compromised.•Asia: Freshwater availability projected to decrease in Central, South, East and Southeast Asia by the 2050s; coastal areas will be at risk due to increased flooding; death rate from disease associated with floods and droughts expected to rise in some regions. http://climate.nasa.gov/effects/For a more detailed explanation of all consequences :http://www.ipcc.ch/publications_and_data/ar4/wg2/e......Show more

Kizzy Hett: Among other things Global Warming causes the polar ice regions to melt that will release methane and poisonous gases and make the atmosphere unbreathable. Yahoo, probably the worlds leading climatologist, James E Hanson Columbia University. We have about 10 years to lower the temp or those gases will start releasing, as Hanson says the situation is becoming dire. Our present financial industrial system is loading the atmosphere with carbon which causes the global warming. Peak Oil will only exacerbate! the problem. Unfortunately the corporate world is addicted to profits ! and like drug addicts they continue to pollute even though it will kill them and everyone on the planet. Society has gone lethally schizoid, the experts are now almost unanimous in their warnings to the world, but most Governments and the business media are carrying on as if nothing dire is happening. The business media make their money via advertising and most of what they write is for their advertisers, including the corporations using fossil fuelsCheck it out. Also yahoo Colin Campbell Peak Oil and make sure you get the original.

Tatiana Evanosky: Here's my top 10 list (which I may edit/rearrange later):#10 - Shorter Spring and Fall#9 - Changing/unpredictable weather patterns#8 - More rain and/or flooding#7 - Less rain and/or droughts#6 - More sever storms - higher wind-speeds, more lightning, more tornadoes#5 - Extinctions#4 - Disease#3 - Food shortages#2 - Water shortages#1 - War - over resources, like water or arable land_

Ardelia Liptow: I am not answe! ring any more of these stupid global warming questions... if you want an answer to your question, the LOOK IN THE ARCHIVES... this question has been asked so much I didn't think anyone with an IQ of more than room temperature would ask it again... this question has just been asked and ansked and asked until it's no longer funny or cute to see it.
